Capacity Building
The Capacity Building pillar serves as the cornerstone for other critical pillars, including the Digital Economy, Industry Development, Digital Government, and Strategic Industries. By implementing a range of impactful programs and activities, we are dedicated to empowering individuals and organizations to thrive in Sri Lanka's digital transformation journey.
The capacity-building strategy is designed to accelerate the nation’s digital transformation by addressing workforce needs and fostering technological inclusivity. This comprehensive approach focuses on cultivating a skilled digital workforce of 200,000 professionals to drive innovation and growth in the digital industry. It also emphasizes equipping government personnel with essential digital skills, enabling the delivery of human-centric and user-friendly public services. By prioritizing the integration of strategic industry skills, the strategy ensures the workforce is prepared to meet the demands of emerging technologies and critical industries.
The initiative places a strong emphasis on integrating technology into the daily lives of all Sri Lankans, with particular attention to underrepresented groups such as persons with disabilities, marginalized communities, and women. By leveraging technology, the strategy seeks to enhance quality of life, reduce poverty, and empower individuals to contribute meaningfully to the digital economy.
Fully aligned with Sri Lanka’s DOIT 5.0 national ICT policy and several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the strategy reflects insights gained from industry experts, community consultations, and past experiences. Designed to be agile and adaptable, it is structured to evolve in response to changing priorities while ensuring alignment with national objectives and the needs of special community groups.
Strategic Vision for Capacity Building
