Mahesh Perera

Mr. Mahesh Perera counts over 30 years of experience in diverse fields of ICT in both public and private sector organizations in Sri Lanka. He is a firm believer in ICT and HR convergence toward organizational progression.
Mr. Perera is known to many for his position at the Parliament of Sri Lanka, where he served for over 18 years heading the Department of Information Systems and Management. He was instrumental in empowering the Members of Parliament, the staff of parliament, and the general public by transforming the ecosystem.
In his professional capacity, Mr. Perera has served many years in the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL), finally becoming its President for the period of two years from November 2011 to December 2013. He has also been the President of the South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation (SEARCC) an umbrella organization of national computer societies of the region.
In the early days of his career, Mr. Perera served as a Major in the Sri Lanka Army, leading a team of ICT professionals to achieve operational excellence in Sri Lanka Army. He has also worked as an Engineer in Informatics (PVT) Ltd., a major computer firm in Sri Lanka, providing systems support for key customers.
Mr. Perera studied at the State University of the former USSR, where he obtained his MSc (Honours) in Computer Engineering. He completed his MBA in HRM, Business Administration specializing in Human Resource Management at the Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayawardanepura. He has also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in e-Government, Role of ICT in Governance and Government from the Postgraduate Institute of Management.
