Visa Recommendation
Visa Recommendation
The "Visa recommendation" service, initiated by the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) in 2017, consistently delivers significant contributions to the country's ICT sector. The service was created to meet the critical needs of evaluating and identifying appropriate talent for foreign employment visas, addressing knowledge gaps in the ICT industry, and attracting investors to Sri Lanka's burgeoning tech landscape.
The primary objectives of this service revolve around narrowing the knowledge gap in the ICT industry by providing specialized domain training to local employees and fostering interest from potential investors in Sri Lanka. To achieve these goals, the service maintains close collaborations with key stakeholders, including the Immigration and Emigration Department and the Ministry of Technology.
The service caters to a diverse audience, including foreign employees in the ICT sector seeking support in securing employment visas for Sri Lanka, ICT companies looking to establish operations in the country, and foreign investors seeking opportunities within Sri Lanka's thriving tech sector.
Notably, the service has achieved remarkable outcomes, issuing 126 Visa recommendations between 2020 and 2023. Furthermore, it has successfully trained more than 250 local ICT employees in specialized domains, thereby enhancing the capabilities of the local workforce.
Looking ahead, the service continues to provide crucial support to the Immigration and Emigration Department in ensuring that the right talent enters Sri Lanka's ICT industry. This ongoing effort contributes significantly to the country's reputation as a hub for technological innovation and investment.
