Dr. P.C.P. De Silva is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Town & Country Planning, University of Moratuwa. He began his PhD studies at the University of South Australia and completed his PhD in Civil Engineering at the University of Moratuwa, specializing in transportation engineering. His primary teaching areas are transportation engineering, transportation planning, and urban planning.
Dr. De Silva handles most transportation modules for both BSc and MSc programs at the department. He has served as a visiting lecturer at various government and private universities, including General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University and the National Institute of Plantation Management.
Dr. De Silva was previously the Academic Head at the Pioneer Institute of Business and Technology in Colombo, which offers University of Greenwich degree programs locally. He also served as a visiting Senior Scholar for the University of Greenwich (UK). Currently, he is the Director and Academic Head of IDM City Campus in Moratuwa, which collaborates with the University of Gloucestershire (UK) to offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs. In addition to his administrative duties, Dr. De Silva teaches several subjects in computing and computer systems for both BSc and MSc programs.
He has supervised over 500 undergraduate and postgraduate final-year projects in transportation and information and communication technology. Dr. De Silva has published numerous journal and conference papers in the fields of transportation and information technology. He has also been involved in many transportation consultancy projects for both private and government sectors, notably serving as the Chief Transportation Engineer for the Northern Expressway Project in Sri Lanka.
Dr. De Silva is the Chairman of the Circle Group of Companies, Sri Lanka, and the Chief TIA Consultant for John Keells Holdings PLC, Sri Lanka. He serves as a main Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) Consultant for the Urban Development Authority of Sri Lanka, having completed nearly 250 TIA projects to date.
