ICTA Launches a mobile application for Central Cultural Fund on eInformation and eTicketing which enable easy access to information on cultural artifacts and to purchase tickets online.

World Tourism Day, celebrated on every 27 September around the world. This year’s World Tourism Day is focused on technological advances. ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) joined hands with the Central Cultural Fund to launch a mobile application "e-info CCF Sri Lanka", to enable easy access of information on cultural artifacts of the historic sites managed and maintained by the CCF along with the launch of the department’s official website in the event held on September 27, 2018 at Sigiriya cultural site. Honorable Minister of Higher Education and Cultural Affairs Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapakse graced the event along with Director – Special Projects Mr Kanchana Thudugala and ICTA representatives with other distinguished guests.
Honorable Minister Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapakse explained the impotency of the mobile application and its benefits to the foreign and local visitors while expressing his gratification of making available digital facilities in parallel to the development of technology in Sri Lanka.
Elaborating the usability and features of the mobile application to the audience, Director, ICTA - Mr. Thudugala explained that it covers online purchase of site tickets and access to historic information of cultural sites managed by the Central Cultural Fund.
The eInformation element delivers historical information regarding the Sri Lankan cultural sites and the site artifacts. The app includes the highlights of the sites and site artifacts from history to date and each of those artifacts are described in detail along with the historical background and other related information. The app supports to search artifacts or scan QR code placed at the artifacts with the options of listening and reading regarding the artifacts while roaming around. It can also be used to locate your current location and to plan out the site seeing in the respective site with the aid of the application map.
The user is able to easily submit their opinion, feedback, and requests via the mobile application. Also, social sharing facility such as Facebook, Instagratm etc is given to the user to share the information at the cultural site.
Moreover the application allows local and foreign visitors to purchase tickets online while enjoying easy and efficient services to fast track the waiting times in queues to purchase tickets. The app allows users to make payments and purchase multiple site tickets for foreign and local visitors.
Further the information pertaining to the historic sites will be available in 16+ languages in the future to enabling wide access and accurate historic details. In addition, the information of other main sites functioning under CCF such as Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa etc will also be included to the mobile application.
The "e-info CCF Sri Lanka" mobile application can be downloaded from app store and play store while marking another giant move in the digital arena.
