Hospital Health Information Management System launched at Sri Jayewardenepura University Medical Center.

The Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) of Sri Lanka recently announced steps to digitalize the Sri Jayawardenapura University Medical  Center.

A Hospital Health Information Management System (HHIMS)  will be introduced under this project. It will significantly improve the quality of the medical center's services by giving timely access to critical clinical information, mobilizing new resources, and ensuring accountability. In addition, the new system will

significantly reduce the need to maintain paper-based records and enable improved and efficient service to patients by automating patient registration, queue management, examination, drug ordering, lab test orders, injections, and summary report generation.  

Over 15,000 students, faculty members, and staff will experience efficiency and speedy service once the system is implemented. 

The ICTA will provide technical assistance for the system implementation. As a result, the medical center of the University of Sri Jayawardenapura will be the first University in Sri Lanka to implement an HHIMS. Herath, Chief Executive Officer - ICTA, Prof. Prasad Jayaweera, Professor of Computer Science, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Kanchana Thudugala, Chief Digital Government Officer –ICTA, Amila Kularatne, Director  Line of Business Solutions - ICTA, Maheesa Dayananda, Program Manager - ICTA and many other                   representatives, were present at the occasion.
