ICT Solution to Government Analysts Department
2016, Sri Lanka initiated an initiative that significantly influenced the nation's forensic and food science capabilities. The project, aptly named the ICT Solution for the Government Analyst's Department (GAD), has been an ongoing endeavor aimed at modernizing and optimizing the operations of the Government Analyst's Department. The Government Analyst's Department serves as the country's exclusive forensic science laboratory. Its responsibilities encompass a wide range of critical services, including forensic analysis and food science expertise. These services are essential for supporting law courts, law enforcement agencies, and other relevant institutions in their investigative and legal proceedings.
The objectives of the project were clear. It sought to modernize and transform the GAD's operations, aligning them more effectively with the requirements of the legal and investigative community. Priority was placed on accuracy, security, and efficiency in the delivery of its services.
The scope of the project encompassed two primary areas: the digital transformation of GAD’s processes and the improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of its functions. This dual approach aimed to create a comprehensive solution that would modernize the department from the ground up.
Key milestones in the project's journey included the implementation of a centralized and integrated software solution, the development of internal network infrastructure within the GAD, the purchase of necessary hardware equipment, and the enhancement of IT skills among GAD officers. These milestones represented significant steps in the department's transformation.
The outcomes and achievements of the ICT Solution for the Government Analyst's Department have been substantial. The project has resulted in the effective and efficient operation of the GAD, leading to increased satisfaction among internal staff and stakeholders. Private organizations and citizens alike have benefited from the improved services, and the department now aligns with international standards and procedures, further enhancing its credibility.
